My name is Sheila McCallum and I had the blessing of growing up watching and learning from my mom, an accomplished religious artist. The love for art and religious themes took root in my heart too.

I studied fine art at Carroll College in Helena, Montana, taking particular interest in painting, ceramics, and stained glass.

I have several years experience restoring religious statues and artwork, as well as creating my own art, but I have only turned to this work full time recently. Prior to now, artwork was only a hobby that I did on the side. That is why my photo portfolio is small, but it is growing as I acquire more assignments!

Dovecot means “dove’s nest.” It’s an inspired name, as my last name comes from the latin word for dove, “colum.” McCallum means “follower of Columba,” Saint Columba, the Irishman who evangelized my ancestors in Scotland in the 5th century.  “Columba” means “dove,” so I named my studio and business Dovecot because I want the Dove, the Holy Spirit, to dwell here and direct my work.

Please contact me if you have any questions or projects that I could help you with. Thanks for visiting Dovecot!

O my dove, in the clefts of the rock, in the hiding places on the mountainside, show me your face, let me hear your voice; for your voice is sweet, and your face is lovely. Song of Songs 2:14 NIV
